The three Axis Powers ruled their conquered territories in
roughly the same manner. They controlled government either
directly or indirectly. They managed productive resources and
manpower for their own profit. They diffused unrelenting propaganda
and operated a watchful censorship. They suppressed
civil liberties, recruited 'collaborators', and applied ruthless
police action to silence the least opposition. They classified
entire sectors of the population as enemies and annihilated
them.
